What do I need to travel to

Suriname

READY to come to Suriname for the FAWAKA Conference but you’re not quite sure what you need? No worries! We got you covered & can’t wait to welcome you! To make your trip smooth from touchdown to takeoff, here’s everything you absolutely need to know before you pack your bags.

Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Suriname. Ensure you have at least one blank page for entry and exit stamps.

Visa Requirements

Visa-Free Entry: Citizens from most countries can enter Suriname visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism or family visits.

Visa Required: Nationals from 21 countries must obtain an e-Visa before traveling. These countries are:

  • Afghanistan,
  • Angola,
  • Bangladesh,
  • Cuba,
  • Dominican Republic,
  • Egypt,
  • Eritrea,
  • Ghana,
  • India,
  • Cameroon,
  • Kenya,
  • Nepal,
  • Nigeria,
  • Pakistan,
  • Somalia,
  • Sri Lanka,
  • Syria,
  • Tunisia,
  • Venezuela,
  • Zambia, and
  • South Africa

CARICOM Citizens: Citizens of CARICOM member states can enter visa-free for up to 6 months.

Entry Fee
All travelers (except CARICOM citizens and certain exempt groups) must pay an Entry Fee of USD $50 or €50 online before arrival. Payment should be made through the official Suriname e-Visa portal: https://suriname.vfsevisa.com

Mandatory Immigration & Customs Form (ICF)

Mandatory Immigration & Customs Form (ICF). All passengers must complete the Immigration and Customs Form (ICF) online within 7 days prior to arrival.

Upon completion, you’ll receive a QR code to present at immigration. Access the form here: https://icf.sr

Required Documents

Ensure you have the following documents ready:

  • Passport: Valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date.
  • Visa or Entry Fee Receipt (CARICOM Citizens are exempt): Depending on your nationality, either a valid visa or proof of entry fee payment.
  • ICF QR Code: Proof of completed Immigration and Customs Form.
  • Return or Onward Ticket: Evidence of departure from Suriname.
  • Accommodation Details: Hotel reservation or address of stay.
  • Financial Means: Proof of sufficient funds for your stay.
  • Vaccination Certificate: Yellow fever vaccination proof if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever.
    • (If you are not arriving from a yellow fever-affected area, you do not need a yellow fever certificate. Travelers from countries without yellow fever are not required to have this vaccination.)
    • NOTE: (To make sure you know whether or not you need one) Here is the link of risk countries where you’re required to have a yellow fever vaccine card when arriving in Suriname:Β List of Risk Countries
  • Travel from countries with risk for YF virus transmission: Vaccine is required for travelers β‰₯1 year old; this includes >12-hour airport transits or layovers in countries with risk for YF virus transmission.

Customs Regulations

Duty-Free Allowances (for travelers over 18):

  • Tobacco: Up to 200 cigarettes or 250g of cigars or 225g of tobacco.
  • Alcohol: Up to 2 liters.

Prohibited Items:

  • Narcotics.
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables (unless from New Zealand).

Restricted Items:

  • Pets: Only allowed from Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain with proper documentation.
  • Weapons and Ammunition: Require prior permission from Surinamese police authorities

Currency Regulations

Import/Export Limit: You may bring in or take out up to USD $10,000 without declaration.

Amounts Exceeding Limit: Must be declared to customs upon arrival or departure.
